This Resolution officially recognizes the week of April 17 through April 23, 2022, as Volunteer Week Hawaii throughout the entire state. This designation is inspired by National Volunteer Week, which was established in 1974 to encourage people to get involved in their communities through volunteer service, highlighting how volunteers are central to driving social change. Hawaii has participated in this recognition in previous years, and this resolution aims to continue that tradition as a call to action for more volunteerism and community engagement, with certified copies of the resolution to be sent to the Governor and the mayors of all four counties in Hawaii.
