This bill proposes to amend the New York state constitution to establish a fundamental right of the people to have access to public information and to be provided notice of and attend public meetings of the government. The bill states that the right to public information is a necessary and vital part of democracy and public deliberation, and that this right shall not be unreasonably restricted. The proposed amendment must be referred to the next regular legislative session and published for three months prior to the next general election of members of the assembly.
