This Concurrent Resolution urges the City and County of Honolulu to establish a new police station in Leeward Oahu, a growing area that includes communities like Waipahu, Ewa, and Waianae. The resolution highlights that Leeward Oahu has a significant and increasing population, attracting many visitors to its attractions, and is experiencing a rise in criminal activity such as thefts, burglaries, and assaults, as well as an increase in incidents involving homeless individuals. Currently, the Honolulu Police Department (HPD), which serves the entire island of Oahu with its nearly one million residents and military personnel, has its district stations located in other parts of the island, and the existing substations in Leeward Oahu are insufficient to meet the growing law enforcement needs of this region. Therefore, the resolution calls for this new station to improve police response times and provide better overall law enforcement services to the residents of Leeward Oahu.
