This bill allows the implementation of body cameras on police officers, notwithstanding binding arbitration. It also provides that municipalities may opt to increase pay for the use of body-worn cameras. The bill amends the civil service law to state that any agreement or interest arbitration award between a public employer and a public employee organization representing police officers, which authorizes an increase in the rate of pay or expanded duty pay in recognition of the additional and continued duties and responsibilities performed by police officers in connection with body-worn cameras, shall be invalid and shall not include binding arbitration for the purposes of authorizing such a pay increase or expanded duty pay.
