This bill, the Sister City Transparency Act, directs the Comptroller General of the United States to conduct a study on the activities of sister city partnerships (formal agreements between a U.S. community and a foreign community recognized by Sister Cities International) operating within the United States, with a focus on partnerships involving foreign communities in countries with significant public sector corruption. The study will examine the criteria for selecting U.S. communities, the activities and outcomes of the partnerships, the transparency of information and oversight practices, and the potential risks such partnerships may pose to the economic and national security interests of the United States. The Comptroller General will submit a report with the findings, conclusions, and recommendations (if any) to the appropriate congressional committees.
