This Concurrent Resolution requests the formation of a Land Transfer Task Force to examine and potentially exchange certain lands between the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands (DHHL), which manages lands for native Hawaiians under the Hawaiian Homes Commission Act, and the Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR), which oversees state public lands. The task force, comprised of legislative leaders and administrators from both departments, will identify lands that might be better suited for the other department's purposes, determine the process for transferring these lands, and identify any challenges and solutions. The DHHL and DLNR are asked to provide administrative support, and the task force is to submit a report with findings and recommendations to the Legislature by early 2023, after which it will dissolve on July 1, 2023.
