This Concurrent Resolution requests the Department of Taxation to conduct a study to determine how much new money the state could collect by imposing a tax on electronic smoking devices, also known as e-cigarettes or vapes. The resolution notes that while traditional cigarette smoking has decreased, e-cigarette use has risen significantly, and there's a tax difference between traditional tobacco products and these newer devices, which might encourage their purchase. The Department of Taxation is asked to report its findings and any recommendations, including potential new laws, to the state legislature by early 2023.
