This bill prohibits political subdivisions in Minnesota, including home rule charter or statutory cities, counties, townships, and school districts, from establishing or enforcing ranked-choice voting as a method of voting for local offices. Ranked-choice voting is defined as any election method where voters rank or assign a numerical value to candidates in order of preference. The bill states that any rule, resolution, charter provision, or ordinance that is inconsistent with this prohibition is void, and the legislation takes effect the day following final enactment, applying to elections on or after that date.
