This bill prohibits political subdivisions in Minnesota, including home rule charter or statutory cities, counties, townships, and school districts, from establishing or enforcing ranked-choice voting or any similar voting method for local offices. "Ranked-choice voting" is defined as any election method where voters rank or assign a numerical value to candidates in order of their preference. Any existing rules, resolutions, charter provisions, or ordinances that are inconsistent with this prohibition are deemed void. The bill takes effect the day after it is enacted and applies to elections on or after that date.
