This bill amends Chapter 269 of the General Laws to add a new section related to the unauthorized use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The key provisions are: 1. It prohibits the weaponization or operation of weaponized UAVs, punishable by imprisonment of 3-20 years or 6 months-2.5 years in the house of correction, and/or a fine of $1,000-$50,000. 2. It prohibits the use of UAVs to photograph, videotape, or electronically surveil another person without their knowledge and consent when they have a reasonable expectation of privacy, punishable by up to 2.5 years in the house of correction and/or a fine of up to $5,000. 3. It prohibits the use of UAVs to photograph, videotape, or electronically surveil critical infrastructure facilities (e.g., power plants, water treatment facilities, telecommunications centers) without lawful authority, punishable by up to 2.5 years in the house of correction and/or a fine of up to $5,000.
