This bill aims to provide enhanced protection from child enticement. It amends the existing state law by adding a new subsection that prohibits any person, without the permission of a child's parent or legal guardian, from knowingly enticing a child under the age of 16 to enter a vehicle, unless the person is a law enforcement officer, emergency services provider, firefighter, operator of a state or local government vehicle used for informing or transporting children, or a paid employee or volunteer of a nonprofit or religious organization that provides activities for children. The bill includes affirmative defenses for individuals who undertake such actions in response to an emergency or to preserve the child's health, safety, and welfare. Violations of this provision would be punishable by imprisonment and/or a fine.
