To be eligible, the judge must have: (i) served in the U.S. armed forces, (ii) been called to active duty while serving as a judge for at least 90 days, (iii) retired at age 70 with at least 10 years of continuous judicial service or resigned after at least 15 years of continuous service, and (iv) currently receive a pension related to their judicial service. Eligible judges can receive a pension for life equal to three-fourths of the current annual rate of compensation for a judge in the same or similar position.
