This bill amends Chapter 90 of the General Laws to require periodic drug and alcohol testing for school bus drivers. The bill establishes that a school bus driver is deemed to have consented to testing of their blood, breath, or urine to determine alcohol or drug impairment. The registrar or law enforcement can order such testing periodically or upon reasonable suspicion of impairment. Drivers who refuse testing or test positive with a blood alcohol content of 0.04% or higher will be disqualified from operating a school bus for one year, with a lifetime disqualification for multiple offenses. Drivers can request a limited hearing to challenge the basis for the testing.
