This bill, the Improving Mental Health Access for Students Act, requires higher education institutions that create and distribute student identification cards to include contact information for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, Crisis Text Line, and the campus mental health center or program. Institutions that do not distribute identification cards must publish this suicide prevention contact information on their website. If any of the specified organizations cease to exist, the Secretary can designate a different entity with a similar purpose to be included on the identification cards. The amendment will take effect one year after the bill's enactment.
