This bill, the Improving Mental Health Access for Students Act, requires colleges and universities to include contact information for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, Crisis Text Line, and the campus mental health center on student identification cards. For institutions that do not provide student IDs, they must publish this suicide prevention contact information on their website. The bill gives the Secretary of Education the authority to designate a different organization with a similar purpose if any of the originally listed entities cease to exist. The provisions of the bill will take effect one year after the date of enactment.
