This bill amends the Department of Energy Organization Act to assign new functions to the Assistant Secretaries within the Department of Energy. Specifically, it gives the Assistant Secretaries responsibilities related to energy emergency and energy security, including infrastructure, cybersecurity, supply, and emergency planning, coordination, response, and restoration. The bill also allows the Secretary of Energy to provide technical assistance, support, and response capabilities to state, local, and tribal governments, as well as energy sector entities, regarding energy security threats, risks, and incidents, in coordination with other relevant federal agencies.
