This bill amends the Department of Energy Organization Act to assign certain energy emergency and energy security functions to the Assistant Secretaries of Energy. Specifically, the bill grants the Assistant Secretaries responsibilities related to energy infrastructure, cybersecurity, supply, and emergency planning, coordination, response, and restoration. It also allows the Assistant Secretaries, upon request from state, local, or tribal governments or energy sector entities, to provide technical assistance, support, and response capabilities regarding energy security threats, risks, and incidents, in coordination with other relevant federal agencies.
