This bill modifies the financial assurance requirements for nonferrous permit to mine in Minnesota. Specifically, it requires operators of nonferrous mining operations to submit a cash bond or deposit sufficient to cover the costs of reclamation activities, including closure and post-closure maintenance, as well as corrective actions if noncompliance with design and operating criteria in the permit occurs. The commissioner must also periodically review the amount of financial assurance to ensure it equals the outstanding reclamation costs.
