Bill Summary
AN ACT To provide PreCheck to certain severely injured or disabled veterans, and for other purposes.
AI Summary
This bill, the Veterans Expedited TSA Screening Safe Travel Act (VETS Safe Travel Act), aims to provide the PreCheck program of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to certain severely injured or disabled veterans at no cost. The bill defines the eligible veterans as those enrolled in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) patient enrollment system who have lost or lost use of a limb, become paralyzed or partially paralyzed, or incurred permanent blindness, and require the use of a wheelchair, prosthetic limb, or other assistive device. The bill requires the TSA Administrator and the VA Secretary to develop and implement a process for these veterans to receive the PreCheck benefits within one year of the bill's enactment. Additionally, the bill directs the VA Secretary and TSA Administrator to coordinate on outreach to disabled veterans about TSA programs designed to improve the screening process for passengers with disabilities, and to examine the need and feasibility of other measures to improve travel security procedures for disabled veterans.
