This bill, the Keeping Gun Dealers Honest Act of 2021, aims to ensure greater accountability by licensed firearms dealers. It does this by: increasing the number of allowed compliance inspections of firearms dealers from once to three times; increasing the maximum penalties for firearms licensees who violate the law from one year to five years in prison; imposing additional penalties of up to 10 years in prison for certain recordkeeping offenses related to gun trafficking; allowing the Attorney General to suspend or revoke a dealer's license or impose civil penalties for violations; terminating a dealer's license upon felony conviction; authorizing the hiring of additional personnel to conduct more inspections; and giving the Attorney General authority to require a dealer to conduct a physical inventory and provide the inventory record in certain circumstances.
