This bill requires the chief of every police department, each county sheriff, and the superintendent of state police to report to the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) national use-of-force data collection program. The bill specifies that the report must include detailed circumstances of every incident where a police officer or peace officer employs the use of force, such as brandishing, using or discharging a firearm, using a chokehold or similar restraint, using chemical agents, impact weapons, or electronic control weapons, or engaging in conduct that results in the death or serious bodily injury of another person. The report must also include the age, race, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, and ethnicity of all persons involved. Failure to report as required can result in the withholding of 10% of any state funding due to the department or office.
