This bill requires hospitals that offer medical residency training in obstetrics, gynecology, internal medicine, women's health, and osteopathy to provide training that follows the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education or the American Osteopathic Association's special requirements for obstetrics-gynecology. This includes providing experience with induced abortions and management of complications, except where the residency program has a religious, moral, or legal restriction that prohibits residents from performing abortions within the institution. The bill also requires these hospitals to have mechanisms to ensure residents without such objections receive training in performing abortions at another institution.
