AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to requiring same-day notification of a parent or person in parental relation of a student with a disability where certain behavioral interventions are used

This bill amends the education law to require school districts to develop a procedure to notify the parent or person in parental relation of a student with a disability on the same day that physical or mechanical restraint is applied to the student or the student is placed in a time-out room. If the parent or person in parental relation cannot be contacted after reasonable attempts, the principal must record and report such attempts to the committee on special education.
