This bill amends the General Obligations Law in New York to prohibit the knowing and reckless promotion of unlawful or false material that endangers the public's safety or health. It defines "knowingly" and "recklessly" in accordance with the Penal Law, and prohibits the promotion of content that advocates for the use of force or self-harm, or includes false statements of fact or fraudulent medical theories likely to endanger the public. The bill declares such violations a public nuisance and provides for enforcement by the Attorney General or local corporation counsel, as well as a private right of action for those damaged by such violations.
