This bill amends the General Obligations Law to prohibit the knowing and reckless promotion of unlawful or false material that endangers the safety or health of the public. The bill defines "knowingly" and "recklessly" as per the Penal Law, and prohibits the promotion of content that advocates for the use of force or self-harm, or includes false statements or fraudulent medical theories. The bill declares such violations a public nuisance and provides for enforcement by the Attorney General or a city corporation counsel, as well as a private right of action for people or entities damaged by such violations.
