This bill, the BPA-free Container Products Act, prohibits the manufacture, sale, or distribution of any container that contains bisphenol A (BPA) above 0.1 parts per billion. Manufacturers must use the least toxic alternative when replacing BPA and are prohibited from replacing it with known or likely carcinogens or reproductive toxicants. Violations of these provisions are considered unfair trade practices and subject to enforcement under the Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law. The bill takes effect 60 days after enactment.
