This bill adds the Arland D. Williams, Jr. Memorial Bridge to the Potomac River bridges covered by the Potomac River Bridge Towing Compact. The Compact allows state troopers and local law enforcement from Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. to direct traffic and authorize the removal of disabled or abandoned vehicles from any part of the Potomac River bridges, even if the vehicle is located outside their jurisdiction. This gives the three parties the authority to facilitate the prompt and orderly removal of vehicles from the bridges. The effective date of this amendment is contingent on similar legislation being enacted by Maryland and D.C.
