Bill Summary

Makes it a fourth degree crime to engage in certain tracking and location activities.

AI Summary

This bill makes it a fourth-degree crime to knowingly install or place an electronic tracking device or tracking application to track or determine the location of another person in order to initiate or facilitate an unlawful act. However, the bill provides several exceptions where the use of such devices or applications would be considered lawful, such as by a parent or guardian tracking a minor child, monitoring a person with a health condition, tracking personal property during a business transaction, or by an employer tracking an employee or vehicle during the course of employment. The bill also specifies how consent must be obtained for the lawful use of these tracking devices or applications, and provides that consent is presumed to be revoked in certain domestic violence situations.
