This bill requires producers of synthetic turf and turf infill sold or distributed in the state of Maryland to establish a system to track the chain of custody of these materials from manufacture to installation, use, reuse, recycling, and final disposal. Producers must report this chain of custody information to the Department of the Environment. For existing synthetic turf and infill, the owner must report the current location and chain of custody information to the Department. The Department will publish this chain of custody information on its website. Violations of the bill's requirements are subject to civil penalties. The bill takes effect on October 1, 2022.
