This bill prohibits the state from entering into contracts with contractors who do not provide health insurance that covers services for transgender, non-binary, and gender expansive people, including but not limited to hormone replacement therapy, gender-affirming surgery, and treatment typically associated with one particular gender. The bill also allows the state comptroller to void any such contract if the contractor is found to be participating in a health plan that fails to provide these services. The bill will take effect 90 days after it becomes law and apply to all contracts entered into, renewed, or modified on or after the effective date.
