This bill amends the New York Penal Law to expand the definition of "aggravated assault upon a police officer or a peace officer." The bill adds a new provision that makes it a class B felony to intentionally cause physical injury to a police officer or peace officer while aided by two or more other people in a public place. The existing law already made it a class B felony to intentionally cause serious physical injury to a police officer or peace officer using a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument.
