This bill amends the Election Law to change the time period during which absentee ballots must be mailed or delivered after an application for such ballot is received by the board of elections. Specifically, it requires the board to mail or deliver the absentee ballot within a certain number of days depending on when the application was received, ranging from 46 days before the election if the application was received at least 60 days before the election, to 2 days if the application was received between 7 and the day before the election. The bill also allows the board to make every reasonable effort to mail or deliver the ballot on the day the application is received if it was timely postmarked by mail after the 7th day before the election or delivered in person after the 7th day but no later than the day before the election.
