This bill aims to encourage the use of renewable energy on agricultural land in Massachusetts. It amends existing law to allow land used primarily for agricultural or horticultural purposes to also be used to site a renewable energy generating source, such as a solar installation, as long as it does not impede the continued use of the land for agricultural or horticultural purposes. The bill requires the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs to promulgate regulations to implement the provisions, including guidelines for construction practices, data reporting, and the definition of "continued use" of agricultural and horticultural land. The regulations must be promulgated within 6 months of the passage of the bill.
