This bill authorizes the state retirement board to retire Jamie J. Magarian, a uniformed member of the Department of State Police, at the regular rate of compensation due to injuries sustained while on duty in March 2018. The bill provides that Magarian will receive a non-taxable pension equal to the regular rate of compensation he would have received had he continued service until age 65 or his death, whichever comes first. After age 65, Magarian will receive a pension equal to 80% of his previous compensation. The bill also entitles Magarian to reimbursement for all related medical expenses and a lump-sum payment of his accumulated retirement deductions. Finally, the bill provides that if Magarian is married, his spouse will receive a 75% annuity of his pension upon his death.
