Bill Summary

AN ACT to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to removing restrictions on crossbow size and draw weight when used for hunting

AI Summary

This bill removes restrictions on the size and draw weight of crossbows used for hunting in New York. Specifically, it removes provisions that previously required crossbows to have a minimum limb width of 17 inches, a minimum peak draw weight of 100 pounds, and a maximum peak draw weight of 200 pounds, as well as a minimum overall length of 24 inches from buttstock to front of limbs. The bill maintains the requirement that crossbows have a working safety on the trigger unit.
