This bill, the Warrior Brain Health Act of 2022, directs the Secretary of Defense to establish a comprehensive initiative called the "Warfighter Brain Health Initiative" to unify efforts and programs across the Department of Defense to improve the cognitive performance and brain health of members of the Armed Forces. The key provisions of the bill include: 1) Establishing a program to monitor the cognitive brain health of service members from accession onwards, to detect any need for cognitive enhancement or restoration due to potential brain exposures. 2) Identifying and disseminating thresholds for blast pressure safety, modifying high-risk training and activities to mitigate negative effects of repetitive blast exposure, and developing non-invasive medical devices to diagnose and treat traumatic brain injury. 3) Requiring the Department of Defense to submit a strategy and implementation plan within one year, as well as annual budget justifications and reports on the Initiative's progress until 2030. The overall goal is to harmonize and prioritize the Department's efforts on brain health to produce more efficient and effective results in enhancing, maintaining, and restoring the cognitive performance of service members.
