This bill authorizes the Town of Ayer Select Board to acquire a subsurface water line easement on land owned by the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR). The easement will allow the town to install, construct, repair, and maintain water infrastructure on the land, which is necessary to provide water to the residents of Ayer. The town must compensate the Commonwealth either by transferring land or an interest in land, or by paying a sum of money equal to the fair market value of the easement, as determined by an independent appraisal review by the Inspector General. Any funds received will be deposited into the Conservation Trust and used by the DCR to acquire land for conservation and recreation purposes. The town will also be responsible for all costs associated with the conveyance of the easement.
