This bill amends the Occupations Code to establish a procedure for handling complaints against healthcare practitioners licensed by different entities. The key provisions are: 1) a licensing entity that receives a complaint about a healthcare practitioner licensed by a different entity must promptly forward a copy of the complaint to that other entity; and 2) a licensing entity cannot take disciplinary action based on a complaint about a healthcare practitioner licensed by a different entity, unless that other entity refers the complaint back for investigation and resolution. The changes in this bill only apply to complaints filed on or after the effective date, which is either immediately or September 1, 2023, depending on the vote of the legislature.
