This bill amends an existing law to authorize the Oklahoma State Election Board to develop a system for automatic voter registration. Under the new provisions, the Secretary of the State Election Board will receive electronic records, including the legal name, age, residence, citizenship information, and electronic signature, of qualified electors or those who will become eligible to vote within the next two years from the Service Oklahoma agency and motor license agents. The Secretary will then provide this information to the county election boards, and unless the individual declines registration within 21 days, their electronic record will constitute a completed voter registration. The bill also prohibits county election boards from sending ballots to or adding individuals to the voter rolls until at least 21 days after the notification process. The bill will take effect on November 1, 2023.
