This bill amends the law governing the Board of Regents of the University of Alaska to increase the number of regents from 11 to 12 and require that at least one regent be a current, full-time, and tenured faculty member employed at one of the three main University of Alaska campuses. The faculty regent's term is set at two years, and the governor must appoint the faculty regent from a list of interested faculty members submitted by the university. The bill also changes the quorum requirement for the Board of Regents from six to seven members to approve corporate business. Additionally, the bill includes a transition provision requiring the University of Alaska to submit the list of interested faculty members to the governor by February 1, 2024.
