This bill amends the laws governing the University of Alaska Board of Regents. It increases the total number of regents from 11 to 12, and requires that at least one of the regents be a current, full-time, tenured faculty member from one of the three main University of Alaska campuses (Anchorage, Fairbanks, or Southeast). The faculty regent will serve a two-year term and can be appointed from a list of nominees submitted by the faculty senates. The bill also increases the quorum requirement for the Board of Regents from 6 to 7 members. The bill includes a transition provision requiring the governor to appoint the initial faculty regent.
