This bill proposes to amend the New York State Constitution to add a new section that establishes the fundamental right of the people to have access to public information and to be provided notice of and attend public meetings. The bill states that the right to public information is a necessary and vital part of democracy and public deliberation. It further specifies that the right of the people to inspect and/or copy government records, as well as the right to be provided notice of and attend public meetings of government, shall not be unreasonably restricted.
