This bill amends the Education Law to increase the maximum time limits for the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) awards. Specifically, it allows undergraduate students to be eligible for up to six academic years of study in the aggregate, or seven academic years in the aggregate if the program of study normally requires five years. For students enrolled in an approved two-year program, the maximum eligibility is increased from three to four academic years in the aggregate. The bill also provides additional eligibility for students who must transfer to another institution due to the permanent closure of their college. The bill will take effect on the first of July following the date it becomes law.
