This Joint Resolution directs the Oklahoma Secretary of State to put a proposed amendment to the state Constitution before the voters for their approval or rejection. The amendment would prohibit foreign citizens, and business entities or trusts owned by foreign citizens, from owning land in Oklahoma, either directly or indirectly. It also significantly shortens the time period from five years to one year for foreign citizens who acquire land in the state by means other than direct purchase, such as inheritance, to dispose of it, with the land subject to forfeiture to the state if not sold within that timeframe. An exception is maintained for foreign citizens who are bona fide residents of Oklahoma, and the amendment does not affect land currently owned by foreign citizens.
