AI Summary

This bill amends the circumstances under which an individual who has been convicted of a crime is disqualified from serving on a jury in Maryland. The bill removes the requirement that an individual must have received a sentence of imprisonment for more than 1 year to be disqualified, and instead disqualifies individuals who are currently serving the sentence imposed for their conviction, including a term of probation. The bill also removes the provision that allowed individuals with a disqualifying conviction to be qualified for jury service if they had been pardoned. The bill takes effect on October 1, 2023.
