This bill amends the existing law on voter registration of deceased persons in Oklahoma. The key provisions are: 1. The State Department of Health must transmit a monthly list of deaths of state residents to the Secretary of the State Election Board, including personal identifiers like name, date of death, date of birth, and the last four digits of the deceased person's Social Security number and driver's license/ID number. The county election boards will use this list to remove the deceased voters from the voter registration database. 2. Funeral directors, nursing home administrators, and next of kin can also notify the county election boards of a voter's death, and the boards can then cancel the voter's registration. 3. The Secretary of the State Election Board is now required (rather than just authorized) to obtain official death records from the Social Security Administration and other states, and compare them against the state's voter registration database to identify and remove deceased voters. 4. The effective date of this bill is January 1, 2024.
