This bill amends Oklahoma's election laws to bypass the primary and runoff primary elections in certain circumstances. Specifically, if a political party has only two nominees for an office and no other party has a nominee, those two nominees will be placed directly on the general election ballot, bypassing the primary election. Similarly, if a party has more than two nominees and no other party has a nominee, the top two vote-getters from the primary will advance to the general election, regardless of whether they received a majority of votes. The bill also makes changes to the timing of local elections relative to primary and runoff primary elections. The bill will become effective on November 1, 2023.
