This bill amends Tennessee's laws related to security guards and officers. It removes a subsection from Section 62-35-123, which deals with the registration of security guards. It also amends Section 62-35-134 to make it unlawful for an employer to knowingly hire a security guard who does not have a valid registration card, and it imposes penalties for such violations, including the suspension of liquor licenses. Additionally, the bill adds an exemption to the definition of "security guard/officer" in Section 62-35-103 for employees of restaurants and hotels whose primary responsibilities do not involve security services. The bill takes effect on July 1, 2023.
