This bill amends several sections of Hawaii's transportation laws. It conditions the issuance of a certificate of inspection upon a vehicle not being equipped with a noisy muffler or exhaust system. The bill also suspends, revokes, or refuses renewal of a permit for an official inspection station upon a third or subsequent willful violation of rules regarding inspecting noisy mufflers or exhaust systems. Additionally, the bill increases the maximum fine for violating noisy muffler and exhaust system laws and includes repairing or installing a noisy muffler or exhaust system as a prohibited practice for motor vehicle repair laws. The bill is effective as of June 30, 3000.
