This bill requires insurers, mutual benefit societies, and health maintenance organizations in Hawaii to provide coverage for standard fertility preservation services for individuals under 26 years of age who may undergo medically necessary treatments that could directly or indirectly cause infertility. The bill prohibits insurers from using prior diagnosis or fertility treatment as a basis for excluding, limiting, or restricting the required coverage, and from discriminating based on the individual's expected lifespan, disability, medical dependency, or other health conditions. The coverage must be based on the current guidelines developed by the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
